Greenhouse gases are the ultimate reason behind all environmental issues

greenhouse gases

You may have probably watched a lot of Hollywood movies that show what may happen if neglect to care about our environment. The emission of greenhouse gases is one of the main reasons behind all the gradual emerging issues.

Greenhouse gases refer to compounds in the surrounding that are capable of absorbing and emit infrared radiation which, thereby, holds and trap the energy (heat) in the atmosphere. And this action ultimately leads to the greenhouse effect. Commonly known greenhouse gases are

  • Carbon dioxide (CO2)
  • Water vapors (H2O)
  • Methane (CH4)
  • Nitrous Oxide (N2O) commonly known as laughing gas
  • Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)
  • Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)

greenhouse gases

The greenhouse effect is the manner with the aid of which radiation from a planet’s surroundings warms the planet’s floor to a temperature above what it would be without its environment. The greenhouse effect without any doubt leads to major environmental problems like

  • Global warming
  • Ozone depletion etc

Global warming is one of the main global issues that results from greenhouse gases

Global warming cites the major change in climate that is the result of the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases that emit from industries radiate heat energy that traps in the atmosphere and doesn’t escape in the outside space making the earth a hot ball.

Global warming is one of the main global issues that results from green house gases

Environmental scientists show from their shreds of evidence, the gradual rise in temperature since 1950. The main human influence behind global warming is the emission of greenhouse gases i-e Carbon dioxide, Methane, and nitrous oxide.

Several environmental issues are causing due to the rise of global temperature like the rise of sea level, expanding deserts, melting glaciers. Many other problems like extreme changes in weather i-e heatwave, heavy rainfall, droughts, wildfires, and many other related issues.

Ozone depletion is another issue that is the cause by emitting greenhouse gases

Ozone depletion refers to the decrease in the intensity of Ozone (O3) in the upper stratosphere.  The emission of CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbon) and HFCs (Hydrofluorocarbons) goes to the upper atmosphere. Ultra-violet rays from the sun hit CFC that release chlorine and bromine atoms. Released chlorine and bromine react with Ozone in the stratosphere making O2 Molecules.

The deficiency of O3 in the stratosphere results in Ozone Hole around the earth’s Polar Regions. This causes UV rays to pass directly hitting the earth’s surface. This makes the aftermath result vulnerable to humans and aquatic life.

The aftermath results of ozone depletion

Ozone is the strong guarding wall of the atmosphere that protects us against toxic radiation from the sun. The decrease in the strength of ozone causes vulnerable effects on human and aquatic life. The holes in the ozone layer affect continents Antarctica, Australia, and northern Europe. Major diseases caused due to ozone depletion is

  • Skin cancer
  • Eyes diseases
  • Malignant melanoma
  • Basal
  • Squamrus
  • Bad effects on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem

And many other problems are related to depletion in the ozone layer.

The major greenhouse gases sources that become the cause of the greenhouse effect

There are several reasons behind the greenhouse effect which makes a lot of problems for the inhabitant of the earth. Some of them are

  • The extensive use of fossil fuels for energy production and industries
  • Deforestation
  • Usage of synthetic fertilizer in the agriculture sector
  • Industrial processes
  • Other natural sources of greenhouse gases are plant and animal respiration.

Top five countries that are greenhouse gases producers

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the following countries are top Carbon dioxide (CO2) producers.

  • China            9040.74  million metric tons
  • India            2066.01  million metric tons
  • Canada         1660      million metric tons
  • Russia         1468.99    million metric tons
  • The United States  4997.50 million metric tons.

Production of renewable energy and its influence over the climate change

Planet earth is our home and it’s the humans that need to protect it from disastrous change Production of non-renewable energies like usage of fossil fuels that results from emission of greenhouse gases should be avoided. Technology is striving hard to overcome the usage of non-renewable energy that makes messy issues.

Europe is now changing its trend of energy production from non-renewable to renewable sources.   This is a good step towards solving environmental issues. Like the usage of Solar, Wind, and Tidal energy sources.

Need for a great number of plantation globally

Deforestation is also one of the main causes of climate change. Trees are the jewel of lands, without their presence live could not exist. Trees are oxygen producers and carbon dioxide consumers. They keep the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide within an area.

Need for great number of plantation globally

Most of the countries are now taking steps towards afforestation. They are planting many trees to recover the gradual negative change in the climate.
