For the first time in its history, the WWDC or conference for developers of Apple products has been carried out entirely in a digital edition, this is all due to the current situations caused by the Covid-19.
However, that was not a reason not to know all the details of the Apple software ecosystem, in the current WWDC where iOS 14 and the new macOS are the highlights of the presentation, here are the complete details of new features, release date and supported devices of the new updated version, Apple iOS 14.
Apple iOS 14 New Features:
The new version of the Apple operating system for smartphones iOS 14 will bring interesting and amazing changes that users were waiting for.
First of all, App Library, a new way to organize your iPhone screen so that instead of having multiple screens with applications you can now have multiple folders with different subfolders with applications. For example, in a folder, you can put four other folders, each with its different applications.
We have the widgets, which, although they have been on Android for years, on iOS they are totally new and will allow more customization on the phone. Widgets can be resized and moved to any part of the screen on the phone, in this way users can give the touch they want to their phone with the new App Library and widgets.
Picture in picture is another of the novelties of iOS, which allows you to run applications outside the same application, that is, we can play a YouTube video while leaving the main screen or entering another application.
Siri also improves on iOS 14, because now the user experience has been completely redesigned, now Siri will be able to open applications and display information that you request directly as notifications, in this way you can continue to use the phone normally and ask Siri to do one thing or another without having to stop what you are doing.
Apple has also included a new application called «Translate», which will work similar to Google Translate, and will have a significant integration with Siri.
Apple Maps receives improvements and promises better navigation routes, information about places, and images, in addition to reaching more countries like Ireland and Canada. Regarding the new travel routes, bicycle routes will now be included, a function that users have been requesting for a long time.
Also, the new update will have EV routing, which will show information about stops with stations for charging electric vehicles.
Regarding Car Play, it is now compatible with digital car keys, that is, it can be used to open the car and start the vehicle, all with NFC technology.
The App Store releases App Clips, which are applications that run without the need to install. That is, it is similar to Android Instant Apps, so developers will have to work with this new function to integrate App Clips into their applications.
